The collaboration of nine universities from nine countries during this time has often been a clash of cultures and mentalities, but also a space for drawing from individual experiences and solutions. Dr. Agnieszka Krawczyk-Łebek from the Department of Food Chemistry and Biocatalysis was awarded the Gold Medal at the 16th International Exhibition of Inventions 'IWIS 2022', while the title of Best Polish Invention was awarded to new flavonoid glycosides with potential antimicrobial activity that she managed to obtain using biotransformation.

Mateusz Łużny – together with his team – has won the title of “Student-inventor” for a series of 45 inventions related to the production of flavonoid compounds. This is the third consecutive victory for a PhD student from the UPWr Department of Chemistry.

Professor Agnieszka Kita, Professor Jacek Bania and Professor Andrzej Kotecki have been elected for the Council of Scientific Excellence (RDN). On the whole, 141 scientists were chosen representing different scientific disciplines distinguished by the Act 2.0.

Opus 19 – scientists from UPWr have obtained a total of nearly 4.5 million PLN for projects financed from the National Science Centre (NCN) program. They will search for new antimicrobial compounds, work on wax biosynthesis, and integrate tropospheric observations using ground and satellite GNSS observations.

Interest in long-forgotten and little-known plants has been growing in recent years, with many of them rich in bioactive compounds that could be used, among others, in the prevention of civilisation diseases – says Igor Turkiewicz from the Department of Fruit, Vegetables and Plant Nutraceuticals Technology at the UPWr. – Science confirms what has been known in folk medicine for centuries.
